scratching sound since suse 8.2

Hello everybody! AC97, worked fine in 8.1 when manually setting the sound quality to 16bit. Now the sound is scratchy for high tones. Does anyone have the same problem and/or a solution? Mixers are all below 50%. Sven -- Using M2, Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/m2/
