In the latest update in 15.2, something changed in the way I save files downloaded from the internet when in Chrome, or a Chrome based browser like Brave.
It used to use Dolphin file manager, and that is much more convenient, because it requires less clicks to change the file name.
Now it switched to the file manager that Gnome uses - I guess its Nautilus. I don't use Gnome very much, but I have it installed and sometimes go into it if there is something I need it for, so I have to keep the gnome base packages on my system.
Since a few days, I've the very same problem. It's time comsuming and frustrating. (Especially when uploading images for WordPress pages with Google Chrome. Horrible!) However, I don't suspect Nautilus, as I don't have it on my box. :) Till now I can't find a solution. Because you mentioned Brave, I installed that browser too. Now I have: Firefox -> Dolphin Opera -> Dolphin Vivaldi -> Dolphin Chromium -> Dolphin Google Chrome: ? (horrible) Brave: ? (horrible) M$ Edge: ? (horrible)
So how do you set Chrome so that it opens up the Dolphin file manager when you want to save a file from the internet?
Maybe the change of the file manager in use, is related to the 'rendering engine'. Let's hope w'll find out! -- Harrie Baken running Leap 15.2
