directory on suse's ftp site to upgrade to xfree86 3.3.6, I don't want to download them all, as i'm on a pitiful 28.8, no broadband access period in my area :( Also, has anyone else attempted to use a Savage 2000 with XFree86 3.3.6, supposedly it supports it, (that's why i'm trying to upgrade to 3.3.6, since I can't run x-windows currently)...
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Please allow me to ask this heretical question: does your current X Server support your video card? Do you get a picture? If so - why do you want to upgrade? If you are a version junkie, just download the correct X Server RPM for your video card. But you will not see any big difference, apart from the version number. Xfree86 3.3.6 mainly just adds more drivers, no new functionality. If your video card has been supported for quite a while, chances are high, that there are no notable changes and therefore an update is not necessary.
