KDE picking up GNOME settings?

Ok, I had some spare time this evening so I decided to play with the various WMs I installed. I was mucking about in GNOME, playing with the settings, and turned on the Aqua style. I logged out and back in again, this time to KDE - my default and preferred WM. KDE has picked up the GNOME Aqua style. Huh???? Now why would a GNOME setting be carried over to KDE? C.
