* Carl Hartung <opensuse@cehartung.com> [02-13-12 10:36]:
I upgraded my 11.4 x86_64 GNOME 2.32 system to 12.1 GNOME 3.2.1 (OBS Stable) using 'zypper dup'.
The system has been stable and running beautifully now for a couple of days but with one problem: 'window shading' -- double clicking a title bar to roll content up and hide it -- is broken.
if gnome is presented configuration wize similarly to kde, this setting is configurable and may have not survived your upgrade. Check window settings.
In my upgraded user space, switching workspaces causes the title bars of rolled up programs to disappear. I can select and 'unshade' them one at a time using "Activities" mode or Alt+Tab / Shift+Alt+Tab, but this is arduous if, like me, you keep groups of related programs stacked up like pancakes on several workspaces.
I created a new user and the breakage there is a little different. They remain visible after switching workspaces, but they're locked in the 'rolled up' state. Nothing happens when they're double clicked. The positioning is also 'frozen.' The title bars can't be moved. I can select and 'unshade' them one at a time, per the above.
perhaps the same config setting I mentioned earlier.
I've 'Googled' extensively and not been able to find anyone else reporting or discussing this specific problem. I'm hoping someone here will have some troubleshooting ideas share or leads to follow.
I use the mouse-wheel to shade/unshade in addition to <double-clicks>. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
