Hi All, I shall probably be called on to SuSEfy a middle-aged Toshiba Satellite before long, anyone any dos or don'ts about that, and can anyone offer a recommendation for a known-easy-and-reliable-under-SuSE pcmcia network card?
I have a Linksys PCMLM56 combo modem and nic. both work fine with my compaq and NO dongle. I have used the Linksys pcmcia with dongle but didnt like the dongle. Also am using a 3com 3C3FEM556C10/100 combo modem/NIC in a Micron laptop. Worked fine although SuSE didnt detect it on install. I merely added it and told suse it was pcmcia and never looked back. the disadvantage to this one is it takes up two slots cause of the thickness of the connector. The Linksys will allow you to use your second slot, if you have one. If you only have one slot, the 3com wont fit, it is to thick. I can recommend either from a functioning standpoint. Richard
