Sorry to say that, but it turned out that the duplicated character issue (TThhiiss lliinnee iiss bbrrookkeenn) is not solved by that patch :-(
Will the update also fix the problems with X hanging if you switch to console? Someone mentioned earlier that it is a problem with SUSE's X packages and not with the fglrx driver.
