When I goto boot, apache does not start as a part of the boot process. At the moment, all of the firewall stuff has been deleted from the machine just to ensure that this is not causing a problem (I usually use shorewall so that is ok.)
That's a good data point... even though I know three cases now that have this problem, I have not found a way to reproduce it on test machines... I'm sorry! Could you please try to start apache from an at job spawned from /etc/init.d/boot.local? Like this: echo /etc/init.d/apache start | at now + 1 min (the at daemon is obviously needed; you can check for it with rcatd status and chkconfig -l atd) Peter
