I yet need the Trashcan widget because the link to url icon does not show the state of the Trashcan (empty or not).
Yes. It's just a normal icon, like any other. It does have an "Empty Trash" right-click action though.
But it is possible to specify a different icon via an "EmptyIcon=" line in the .desktop file.
OK. What do you mean under .desktop file? I could not find any [Tt]rash.desktop or[Tr]ashcan.desktop in my system. Or you mean the file/url link I made in my ~/Desktop folder which contains the link to trash:/? It has this content: [Desktop Entry] Icon=user-trash-full Type=Link URL[$e]=trash:/ I changed this to: [Desktop Entry] Icon=user-trash-full EmptyIcon=user-trash Type=Link URL[$e]=trash:/ This resulted in changing the icon to empty Trashcan even if it has some content. ??
I just found this, have a look: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=686668#p686668 I tried that and it seems to work.
I will look into this.
It follows the plasma theme. You cannot change it separately.
But at least here on my system, it does look the same like the icons in the folderview. Did you change their appearance maybe?
They look different for me. Normal icon has white colored name without background, widget has black colored name with (ugly) background. Here is a screenshot: http://i62.tinypic.com/2cd7s41.png Style: plastik, colors: openSUSE, icon theme: oxygene, desktop theme: air By the way, if I add a widget to the desktop it will be placed over (cover) existing icons. I consider this a bug. Icons and widgets should be placed to empty areas, not on top of other items.
