mouse on text mode

I have a PS2 mouse and I couldn't actvate it on text mode (tty1-6). When I try it on text yast2, when I select PS2 COMPATIBLE and pres test button, nothing be done. When I execute 'gpm' the mouse pointer goes crazy. However, it works perfectly at X. Should anyone help me? Thanks
