Dear my friends...
I have 2 computers and 1 printer (epson stylus plus 810). one station has suse linux 8.2 and another has windows xp. the printer is connected to my windows xp station and i already can print from my windows xp properly.
but i still have a problem if i want to print from my suse linux 8.2 station.
what i have done is as following... - I installed configured samba server and inetd on my SuSE 8.2 station. - I shared the printer on windows xp. - I setup the printer on my SuSE 8.2 station to print through samba. I mean i want to print from the station whose suse to the printer of another station whose windows xp. - I defined the ip-address of my windows xp and the printer name and username. password for the local username is none (these steps is also with yast2). - I tested it then came "the print server is accessible". - I saved the printer configuration.
But if I print from my SuSE 8.2 nothing then i find nothing happen on the printer. the printer doesn't move to print at all. no result and no error message.
The printer doesn't work if I print from the SuSE station. I can print only from the windows xp.
Please tell me what's wrong....
Thank you very much in advance. .......
Good moorning. As far as I know, but I might be wrong, the printer in Windows should be a Postscript printer, or look like Postscript, if you want to use it from Linux on a network via Samba. But the other way works very well. A printer on the Linux PC can be used by windows PCs (at least XP and W98 by experience). Be carefull with XP passwords, workgroup and users names, and also with the XP firewall.
