So there is no local X display server? You are just running X applications over SSH? You say in your original post "crashing X'es or freezing computer on opensuse 11.4" but your subject says "segfault". Which is it? A locked computer isn't the same thing as a Segmentation Fault [which almost certainly leaves a core file?]. When the computer "freezes" is it completely unresponsive - can you switch between virtual consoles [Ctrl-Alt-F?] or ping it from another computer?
