Locating cause of signal

I'm having a problem with a signal, (SIGHUP), killing a running daemon, pppd! How do I find the cause of the signal, so I can stop it from happening??? I have tried debugging my connection, and nothing jumps out. Everything is clean around the timeframe of the signal. I have tried strace, yet within the time I need to trace, I would have over 65,000 lines of output.
