[SLE] Kernel 2.4 and no ppp0 interface

Hiya SuSE ppl, Since putting Kernel 2.4.0-test1 on my machine I haven't been able to connect to the internet. I use kppp and it fails on the pppd daemon with the message: Couldn't find the interface ppp0: No such device I've enabled PPP support and support for async serial ports in the kernel but still no joy. Any ideas?
