Hello, everyone.
Since Loki are closed for the weekend, I thought I would tap into your knowledge and see if anyone has had the same problems installing Unreal Tournament on SuSE 7.3. Below is the e-mail to and from Loki so far. If you need more info, please feel free to ask.
Bye for now, Stuart.

Hello.
I have tried these, still to no avail.
ls -l `which sh` displays: /bin/sh -> bash
/bin/bash filename.run gives the same errors as before, as does sh filename.run -keep. There is no bash2 on this system. I also tried prepending ./ to the front of the filename just to be sure that it was getting it from the current directory. A long shot that didn't help, but it seemed worth the extra couple of seconds to just try it.
Back to you.
Thanks, Stuart.

Thank you for writing to Loki Technical Support!
Could you check on your system what ls -l `which sh` outputs?
You may need to usr /bin/bash filename.run
or
/bin/bash2 filename.run
If either of those do not work you can also try:
sh filename.run -keep
which will leave the directory from the patch behind. You can then manually enter the directory and execute the appropriate script (upgrade.sh or setup.sh).
Please let us know which of these solutions works for you incase other users have a similar problem.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thanks!

Hello.
I have recently done a clean install of my Linux test workstation from
SuSE
7.1 to SuSE 7.3. It is a standard install except for:
1. Installed Nvidia drivers, which seem to be working just great. 2. Updated from kernel 2.4.10 to 2.4.16.
Under SuSE 7.1, I was able to install UT and run it quite successfully. However, I have just tried to install it again under SuSE 7.3 and the
script
throws up some errors and does not install the program. I am, of course, running this as root. The error is as follows:
hostname:~/ut # mount /cdrom hostname:~/ut # sh ut-install-436.run

't-install-436.run: line 64: syntax error near unexpected token `do 't-install-436.run: line 64: ` for a in $GUESS_MD5_PATH; do hostname:~/ut #
The script just quits at this point. I am using the same script that I
used
under 7.1. The CDROM drive is mounted properly. Any ideas about how to
get
this to install ? UT has been a firm favourite for my wife and I for
Hello, Curtis. Thanks for the suggestion, but that failed too. I have tried running the script as both myself and root, from within X and at the text console, logged in as root or su'ed from my own account, mounting the CD as root or myself. Each time I run the script, it gives the same errors mentioned in my origianl post to Loki which is at the bottom of this email. I hadn't tried using sux before, but that didn't make any difference when I tried it. If I remember rightly, the script isn't GUI in any way. Any other ideas ? Thanks, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: Curtis Rey [mailto:crrey@charter.net] Sent: 12 January 2002 11:59 To: stuart@yorkshirepudding.com; SuSE Linux List Subject: Re: [SLE] Slightly [OT] - UT install script does not run Yes I'm running it without any problems. As root (e.g. in konsole run "sux" the "<root pswrd>" - "mount /cdrom or mount /cdrecorder or mount /whatever device" . the run "sh ut-install-436.sh" or if you have the Game of the Year edition cd run "sh ut-install-436-GOTY.sh" and it should work. Go to www.lokigames.com and under support find the FAQ for UT. Let me know if you have any problems. HTH Curtis On Saturday 12 January 2002 05:29 am, Stuart Powell wrote: the
