Hi, Perhaps you should use mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom Regards Matt -----Original Message----- From: Erle Robinson [SMTP:erler@operamail.com] Sent: Friday, September 07, 2001 12:17 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] mounting a device Help! I am running Suse 7.2 with a cdrw and a cdr When I installed 7.2, but before I went througr the steps to emulate scsi, I had no trouble mounting discs. However, since I have emulated scsi, no cds are recognized. The message I get is Could not mount filesystem /dev/cdrecorder : Input/output error mount: you must specify the filesystem type The pertinent entries in /etc/fstab are /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 dev/cdrom /media/cdreom auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 I also did ln -sf /dev/scd0 /media/cdrecorder ln -sf /dev/scd1 /media/cdrom Under /root there is /media/cdrecorder /media/cdrom There are also two link files called cdrecorder and cdrom I would sorely like help in getting this to work where not only can I read from my installation discs but also play music cds I want to install gphoto from 7.1 ( which I have) I actually switched from RH 7.1 to Suse 7.2 because I liked it better, except for this problem. Suffice it to say that RH not only recognizes both my drives automatically, but would mount and play my music cds automatically also. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq and the archives at http://lists.suse.com
