Well, the first bit would be to find out what chipset that scanner has. You may need to pop the cover off to find that. Then do a bit of digging to see if there is anyone already working on the driver for that chipset,. There is "some" info here: http://umax1220u-sane.sourceforge.net/index.php?UmaxScanners Once you know your chipset, you could do some searching to see if anyone is trying to invent drivers. It's a start.... C. On Monday 14 October 2002 17:24, The Purple Tiger wrote:
Hey all, Yep, the Purple Tiger here *yet again*!! :-)
I have a Umax Astra 2100U USB scanner. As far as I know, it isn't supported under Linux. Can anyone suggest a way in which I could help a developer develop a driver for it? Or where I would go to find out such information? FWIW, I am willing to physically disassemble the thing for more hardware info :-)
Just trying to do my bit for the community :-)
