Hi,
For the last few months, every time I installed an NVIDIA driver update my display manager won't come up afterwards (meaning after having rebootet the system). Having had this issue for a few times no I have however come up with a reliable workaround, running `systemctl restart display-manager`. Afterwards X will start reliable after reboots. But, only if I did the explicit restart one. Just doing another reboot won't fix it. Is anybody else observing this?
I think this has happened the last few times for me too. I've had an old laptop the last five years using the nVidia driver and it was not an issue previously, but yes, probably at least twice or three times this has happened. I've rebooted somehow or other (maybe a Sys-Rq, can't remember how) and all's fine next time but it gives me a scare each time that maybe the graphics chip on my ailing 11-year-old machine has finally conked out. gumb -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
