Hello:
I would like to download (not to install) screengrab xpi with seamonkey web browser because I want to have the xpi file with its original name locally.
bit the bullet to a small degree.
OK, did you read what I wrote in my original post?
you can get the xpi file and retain it locally. initiate installing the add-on in seamonkey. it will dl the xpi file and request you restart seamonkey to complete the install.
When I visit the download page
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/screengrab-fix-version/versio...
with my seamonkey web browser I cannot find any download link to the xpi files. I see only big green buttons with the message "Only with Firefox — Get Firefox Now!", and these buttons direct me to firefox download page.
That is, the download links to the xpi files are not available for seamonkey browser. The buttons are linked to firefox download page.
close seamonkey and then copy the <name>.xpi file from below ~/.mozilla/seamonkey.xxxxxx.default/extensions/staged
or if it installs immediately instead of requesting a restart, copy the xpi file from ~/.mozilla/seamonkey.xxxxxx.default/extensions, then uninstall the add-on.
It is tedious to find the given extension because the extensions are renamed to numbers under the extensions directory, eg:
{e84f2cf7-7745-4be8-89d4-1549d97ca45c}.xpi
To find the given extension I have to check the rdf file for each extensions and it can take a long time if several extension are installed.
if you are worried about the add-on reporting back to big brother, disconnect from the internet as soon as you have completed the download.
I don't care about this at the moment.
Is there any way to find/make show the xpi download link in seamonkey?
What Felix writes, to use a different browser for downloading the xpi file, is a usable workaqround, though.
