[opensuse] Sierra 850 Wireless Card

Hi, I'm using 10.3 Gnome. I have a Sierra 850 Wireless card, which is recognised on install, but how do I intiate a 3G connection. All of the docs on the web talk about using KPPP, but is there a Gnome alternative, or will KPPP work under Gnome.
