Thanks for your help, I was able to get things working this morning...there was a problem with my subnets and the dummy device on my linux computer. My next quest is to get routing working so that my windows computer can get to the internet through the modem of my linux computer without using squid on my linux computer. I'm going to try ip masq. if you have any suggestion please let me know or if you think there is a better way. until then squid is working, but I would really like to do it the real way Robert On Tue, 8 Feb 2000, George Toft wrote:

Hello, I'm running Suse 6.1 with a realtek ethernet card on a small lan. the ethernet card in my linux bax has a 192 ip number and my modem has my real ip number. The problem that I'm having is that I can not get my linux box to see the other 192 ip's on my network (both of which run windows). I'm not sure, but I think it may be something between the netmask of the linux and windows computers... Any help would be great
Post the outputs of ifconfig, route -n for your Linux box as well as the IP addresses/netmasks for the Windows machines.
