Dear All, I am trying to get java setup correctly on my laptop with Suse 8.2. I finally got it working well with my Suse 8.2 on my desktop and proceeded to do the same on my laptop but cannot get it to work so far. I have downloaded and installed Blackdown's 1.4.2_03 and it does not work so want to delete it and go back to 1.4.1 which works on my desktop. When I try to remove the directories or files they will not disappear. Is this a permission problem? I would like to be able to remove directories and files but for some reason cannot do it even as root. Maybe I do not have to remove the other java if I do the path and symlinks correctly? Below is what I get with the respective queries. # find / -name java -print /etc/java /etc/sysconfig/java /opt/netscape/java /usr/lib/java /usr/lib/BlackdownJava2-1.4.1/jre/bin/java /usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin/java /home/marcialynn/j2re1.4.2_03/bin/java locate javac /home/marcialynn/Desktop/Javahelp/locatejavac /opt/kde3/share/vim/vim61/syntax/javacc.vim /usr/share/vim/vim61/syntax/javacc.vim which java /usr/lib/java/jre/bin/java locate libjava.so /home/marcialynn/j2re1.4.2_03/lib/i386/libjava.so /usr/lib/BlackdownJava2-1.4.1/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so /usr/local/j2re1.4.1/lib/i386/libjava.so MOZILLA About:Plugins- Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_03-b02 File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_03 Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
