Weirdness!
I have a Linux fileserver (named hawaii) connected to a gateway (named oahu) with three Win95 clients (lanai, maui, and julie). All Win95 computers are configured the same (IPX, TCP/IP, and client for Microsoft networks). hawaii has a printer attached and it has a hard drive and CD-ROM shared using samba. maui and lanai see the samba shares just fine. It works just like the books (Linux Network Toolkit & SuSE installation book) say it's supposed to. julie cannot see hawaii, but sees the other two computers (lanai & maui) just fine.
Well, the problem that I had that was causing a similar problem was in the /etc/smb.conf file, I had typed in "net bios name = office" and my win95 box could find "office" since it's ip was defined both in the network setup and in lmhosts, but didn't see it in network neighborhood. I changed that entry to "netbios name = office" and voila, Win95 could see Office:-) -- cya l8r Leon McClatchey leonmcclatchey@homemail.com Linux User 78912 (Win95 Box) - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
