I've upgraded my 9.1 to 9.3 and have noticed a marked slowdown (135 messages in Evolution now takes close to 25 minutes to retrieve on DSL, konqueror requires over 1 minute to come up on the screen). I did a new install for / with reiser 3.6 (default) and maintained my /home/* with reiser 3.5. KDE is also slow to load as well. Someone mentioned possible conflicts causing slowdowns in 9.3, how do I check if this is the case?
Mike
Go into Evolution Settings==>mail prefs==>Junk tab and uncheck the check for junk selection. This is forcing all email through a local spam checker which is why it is slow.
And that will fix the "konqueror requires over 1 minute to come up on the screen" problem, How?
It won't. He stated "messages in Evolution now takes close to 25 minutes to retrieve on DSL", it was meant as a possible solution for his email problem using evolution. konquerer is another matter. Perhaps you can help with that problem.
The OP needs to find out where all the cycles are going. Is the proper kernel installed for the hardware? Are unnecessary services installed that weren't there in 9.1? What does top indicate?
