This is beginning to sound alot like the problem many people had getting samba to work some time ago. Again, it was the dummy device causing the problem, IIRC the network traffic was going to dummy instead of eth.
By the way, and hoping that someone will enlighten me.
What is the real specificity of the `dummy0' device? Why not just use
I think the dummy0 device is needed when using PPP.
`lo' instead? One might have many occurrences of the `lo' device. And a particular `lo' surely does not have to be bound to 127.0.0.1. On some machines, I replace `dummy0' with `lo', and have not seen no adverse effects so far. Is the dummy device really necessary? How, why?
Try to set /etc/rc.config:SETUPDUMMYDEV=no. I succeeded to run Samba only after I've done this. Hanspeter -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
