Hi, that's the answer. I took out the Nvidia packages described and rebooted, and now things work again. lspci -k | grep -EA3 'VGA|3D|Display' shows that nouveau is once again the video driver. I'm not sure why those Nvidia packages were installed while doing an update, but now that they are gone everything is back to normal. I tend to two computers that had the same issue after updating, this remedy fixed them both. Many thanks, Mark Mark Misulich <munguanaweza@gmail.com> 12:22 PM (1 hour ago) to users On Sun, Jan 29, 2023 at 12:22 PM Mark Misulich <munguanaweza@gmail.com> wrote:

Finally, I am able to boot up to graphics mode under the nouveau.
The ponit was to uninstall thesefiles;
kernel-firmware-nvidia kernel-firmware-nvidia-gsp-G06
These seem to be files required by Nvidia driver 525.85.05, but I don't know exactly what they are.
Regards.
