Hello,
Is there an alternative way to keep using thunderbird with pop3, so as to not have to leave mail on google's servers?
Even with pop3 the default is to leave all mail on google servers, that's a different setting. And with imap you can also download and delete on server, but using fetchmail instead.
I set it up to delete all mail from the server. With pop, I can do that and still keep the mail in my Tbird folers from as far back as I want. I leave nothing on the gmail server. As I understand it, with imap if you delete from the server you delete the local copy slso.
Not if you use fetchmail instead.
The approach jdd suggested I like because it alows me to keep all the incoming or outgoing messages (copies). I don't yest understand all the steps, but I'll figure it out. I've heard about fetchmail, but don't know if is as simple as jdd's approach. Thanks, Gustav
I can explain the details (for Thunderbird filter), if you wish :-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)
