Opciones de hal para montar dispositivos usb

Olvídate de HAL, tu problema es haber formateado el pene-drive o como se llame eso con NTFS. Éste es un sistema de ficheros propietario de Microsoft, y secreto por tanto, y sólo se ha conseguido en Linux el acceso de lectura exclusiva con seguridad; si quieres el acceso en lectura y escritura tendrás que recompilar el núcleo para habilitarla, cosa no recomedable y bastante peligrosa, puedes perder datos y estropear el cacharrillo o el disco. Mi recomendación es: copia los datos del dispositivo a tu disco duro, formatéalo de nuevo en vfat si lo quieres usar desde Windows y desde Linux. Si sólo lo fueras a usar desde Linux podrías formatearlo en cualquier otro sistema, como ext2/ext3, reiserfs, minix... Con NTFS ya ves lo que te pasa. Probablemente sea inutil, el kernel no soporta escritura en ntfs aunque se lo pidas - a no ser que lo recompiles con esa opción, y aún en ese caso solo puede reescribir ficheros ya existentes si no cambian de tamaño. El NTFS está registrado o patentado, recuerda. Aunque hay por ahí otro paquete que dicen lo soporta, no recuerdo el nombre.
Como la verdad,no tengo idea de como funciona hal,alguien podría indicarme donde debo escribir esas u otras opciones que afecten a hal y su forma de montar unidades?

El paquete ese que dice Carlos, no es nativo de linux. Dicen que funciona muy bien. Y es lógico que funcione bien ya que lo que hace es utilizar la dll del windows "tal cual" para escribir en particiones ntfs, lo cual además de no ser sofware libre es ilegal... ya que utilizas una librería de windows... es algo parecido al ndisrapper o como se llame de las tarjetas inalámbricas, o algo parecido a usar wine y un programa de windows o el vmware... no sé si me explico.
