Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:03

A ver si entiendo lo que hiciste fue recompilar tu kernel. Con el mensaje que posteas me indica que cuando instalaste tu kernel nuevo encontro errores en la cargay no encuentra la ruta donde estan tus modulos de carga. Para corregir esto verifica tu archivo //etc/grub.conf/ y veras que en la linea que dice kernel //como se llame/ ro root=label=/ por eso te indica el kernel panic, en este mismo archivo en la parte superior te debe dar la informacion que debes poner para que te quede algo asi kernel //como se llame/ ro root=/dev/hda?/. /Reinicias tu maquina y veras que eso desaparece, en teoria debe cargar de forma correcta. Si empieza a mandar error en carga de modulos es que esta mal el kernel compilado. Los procedimientos para esto son, make xconfig, make bzImage, make modules, make modules_install, cp arch/i385/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage-"2.4.XX", cp .config /boot/config-"2.4.xx", re editas el //etc/grub.conf/ y listo a disfrutar de un kernel nuevo y optimizado Edgar W.
