just wondering if anyone has been successfull with backing up linux drives using ghost to another hd. Tried it in the past an it never seem to work an boot on the second drive.

tried it with *full* image time ago. that means you must take mbr and so on with in the image. that limits the use to duplicate it to other hdd's, but in general it's possible.
You have to take care of the lilo configuration. Correct me if I'm wrong, but ghost did not make a 1:1 sectorcopy. In this case lilo can't find the kernel on the duplicated hd. -- Frank Zündorff

Hi, of course it doesn't make an 1:1 copy, it`s the use of ghost not to do this, otherwise you could have used dd. But there's no big problem. Just boot from bootdisk (or from the suse rescue disk) and run lilo, as you do this normally after any changes in lilo.conf. Of course you *must* have the same hd-configuration on destination system. Otherwise you have to adapt lilo.conf first... -- may the tux be with You!
