Hi, has anybody made experience with OC on Tumbleweed? I'd like to combine that, but I "only" see community repos. I'm not planning on going back to leap or other distris that require upgrades/reinstalls every other year ... but I would love to test the combination... anybody here tried that before? But there are limitations. Nextcloud is only compatible with mariadb versions: 10.2/10.3/10.4/10.5 Tumbleweed has 10.6 as far as I know. For this, extra adjustments must be made. Whether this also affects owncloud, I can not say. Regards Eric

Ganz ehrlich! Könnte nextcloud ohne die Fork-Möglichkeit bei ownCloud leben?

Klar. Ist opensource und der ehemalige Haupentwickler, inklusive weitere Entwickler, haben Nextcloud ins Leben gerufen und sind somit von owncloud weg. Owncloud möchte etliche Sachen nur in der Enterprise Version. Bei Nextcloud gibt's die Trennung meines Wissens nicht, bzw. War wohl einer der Gründe für nextcloud. Müsstest du aber, falls du in der Zeit dort warst, als ehemalige Werkstudentin wissen. Gruß Eric

Ja und die Grundlagen werden weiter schön von ownCloud geforkt, weil Open Source das ja schließlich erlaubt. Außerdem spart man so die Arbeitskosten. Im Artikel steht nicht alles drin. Ich bin kurz nach der Schließung von ownCloud Inc. dort eingestiegen und habe das reale Hin und. Her live miterleben dürfen. ;-)

Oh, der Flamewar tut mir leid, den wollte ich nicht auslösen. Hätte ich mir aber auch denke können. Ich bräuchte was Enterprise-Grade, will aber nicht auf Decks, News, Notes und ein zwei andere PHP-Apps die mir halt bei Upgrades vor die Füsse fallen. Insofern will ich Files und andere Basics (Office) von dem innovativen anderen PHP-Web-Zeug trennen, denn die sind kritisch, aber eben auch als smartphone- apps verfügbar, auf unsicheren Geräten. Ersteres muss einfach laufen, auf letztere verlasse ich mich nicht, sondern fahre zweigleisig. Deshalb schau ich mir immer wieder beide an. :-) Außerdem ist der Flamewar eh futile, auch Nextcloud kommt ja irgendwann als Go!-Binary, da bin ich mir sicher. Schöne Feiertage und sorry! Und wo ist das Problem? Frage freundlich den Maintainer ob er das Paket auch für Tumbleweed baut. Dann wird er es sicher bauen oder dir den Grund für das Nichtbauen nennen. Gruß Eric

Gruß Eric Genau das habe ich gemacht. Die Info, dass das Christian macht habe ich aus diesem Forum, den Link auch. Dafür bin ich dankbar! :-)

Findet man auch über users im build service heraus. Das Paket ist für mich aber nicht wirklich ein Paket. Es installiert keinerlei requirements oder andere Konfigurationsdateien. Und dann verweist es auch noch auf die Dokumentation von owncloud. Zitat: "This package comes without dependencies. Before your new ownCloud can be run, please consult https://doc.owncloud.com/server/admin_manual/installation/" Dafür braucht man dann wirklich keine Paketierung. Die ist dann völlig unnötig. By the way, I was talking about the repos of the openSUSE build server. But even on the build server of owncloud itself, the latest packages are not necessarily available. There it is version 10.8 and the packages are only for Leap or Enterprise. I don't see any for Tumbleweed there. Regards Eric

braucht man denn Repos für NC bzw OC? Zip vom Projekt runterladen, dann in einen Ordner unterm Web-Server entpacken, speichern. Einstellungen vornehmen, das war's. Da gibt es nix wozu es ein Repo bräuchte. Zumindest für NC gibt es eine ausführliche Anleitung auf deren Webseite und NC selbst testet auf fehlende Abhängigkeiten. Nein? Okay, kann man so machen? Ist mir aber eindeutig zu viel Arbeit- und Zeitaufwand. Außerdem kann man ein Update auf "deine Art" nur durchführen, wenn man eine Internetverbindung hat. Hat man mehrer Server tut man das ganze mittels Paket nur einmal Zum zweiten nimmt einem ein Paket einiges ab. Ein Paket installiert automatisch Abhängigkeiten. Es installiert und konfiguriert verschiedene Dinge. Es führt weitere Aufgaben während der Installation und vor allem bei einem Update durch. Ein Update mittels eines Paketes dauert ca. 10 sek. Je nachdem wie "groß" die Installation ist. Und eine Installation auch nicht viel länger. Mit einem einfachen Entpacken ist es nämlich nicht getan. Gruß Eric

Stimmt. Aber neulich und 15.1 passt nicht ganz zusammen. :-) 15.1 wird schon sehr lange nicht mehr supportet. Und 15.2 Ende des Monats auch nicht mehr. Für 15.4 muss ich mir aber noch irgendetwas einfallen lassen. Wobei eine Software welche über das Internet erreichbar sein kann immer aktuell sein sollte.

Selber habe ich NC nicht im Einsatz, unter anderem aus diesem Grund. Ob OwnCloud das besser macht, keine Ahnung.

That has got his reason. It is difficult to maintain NC or OC as packages for Tumbleweed. Databases are only one example with dependencies. But what can happen with a new version of PHP or Golang in the future? That is the reason for the suggestion to ask the maintainer because of a Tumbleweed package. Best regards, Sarah

Ich bin maintainer des Nextcloud Paketes. Und ich hatte erst eine Abfrage im Bau des Pakets drin. Nur war dann der Aufschrei groß, dass man nextcloud nicht mehr unter Tumbleweed ohne weiteres installieren könnte. Also kam es wieder raus. Ich bin also nicht für evtl. Datenbankfehler zuständig. Darauf hatte ich beim Zurücknehmen deutlichst hingewiesen. Kann die Korrespondenz bestimmt wieder finden. Go braucht man nicht. Und die PHP Version wird abgefragt. Gruß Eric

Ich habe das nicht geschrieben. Und docker ist auch so eine Unsitte von der ich gar nichts halte. Lies mal die Probleme mit docker und den verschiedensten Anwendungen. Des weiteren muss der docker Container auch irgendwie "gebaut werden". Darin sind dann auch Abhängigkeiten, wenn man es richtig macht. Gruß Eric
