Liebe Liste - trotz ausführlichen Studiums des Suse-Handbuches, gelingt es mit nicht, einen Netzwerdrucker (HP 4000, PS) richtig in Betrieb zu setzen. Das Ding gibt schon irgendwas aus, die Dateien sind aber offenbar nicht durch apsfiler gelaufen. Ich kann mittels lpr -Premote etwas ausgeben, müßte den Drucker aber außerdem möglichst so hinkriegen, daß er als Default-Drucker (also mit lpr <dateiname>) funktioniert. Irgendwelche Tips ?? Wie sieht denn der entsprechende Abschnitt der /etc/printcap aus ? Hilft "man printcap" weiter ? Das SuSE-Handbuch will durch die Installation fuehren und eine Orientierung im neuen System geben. Deshalb die vielen Verweise auf die Online-Dokumente, sonst muesste auch SuSE die UNIX-ueblichen "Meter" an Dok mitliefern (und die Rechnung entsprechend erstellen).

Dann muss der Drucker entweder lp heissen oder als Nutzer (oder systemweit) wird ein 'export PRINTER=remote' losgelassen (das ist BTW genau das, was "man lpr" zur Option -P auch schon sagt). Ganz kurz: 1. plp statt lpdold verwenden (ebenfalls serie n) 2. den Drucker mit apsfilters SETUP ganz normal als _lokalen_ Drucker einrichten (d.h., z.B. an /dev/lp0) 3. die /etc/printcap editieren: */dev/lp0 mit /dev/null ersetzen *rm und rp-Einträge hinzufügen 4. /sbin/init.d/lpd stop und start ausführen Dann sollte auch das filtern funzen. Wenn du dem Drucker 'nen anderen Namenals lp gegeben hast, kannst du in /etc/profile die PRINTER-Variable ändern. Diese Anleitung liegt (etwas ausführlicher) schon mal im 98er Archiv.
