Hallo Liste, Ich kaempfe mal wieder mit einem Druckerproblem : Ein Netzwerkdrucker ( Apple LaserWriter12/640 ) soll von Linux aus angesprochen werden. Der Drucker versteht Postscript, arbeitet mit TCP/IP-Protokoll,hat 40Mb Ram und eine Duplexeinheit. Als Spooler verwende ich plp. die Queues sind wie in der SDB und im Suse-Handbuch beschrieben, eingerichtet : eine Remote-Queue ,die den Drucker ansteuert und eine Prefilterqueue, die auf die Remote-Queue spoolt. Mein Problem ist, das einige Jobs mehrfach ausgedruckt werden. Da der Drucker auch von Wintendo- und Netware-Clients befeuert wird, und dieser Effekt dort nicht auftritt, denke ich, das der Fehler auf der Linuxseite liegt. Ich hatte dies vor kurzem schon einmal hier gepostet, konnte es damals aber nicht konkret festnageln. Nun habe ich festgestellt, das dieser Effekt beim Ausdrucken von bestimmten Postscriptfiles (z.B. bestimmte Howtos ) auftritt. Am File selbst kann es nicht liegen, da sich diese Files ueber ein HP-UX System auf einen HP-Netzwerkdrucker problemlos ausdrucken liessen. Der Druckjob wird immer wieder neu gespoolt, bis ich ihn mit lprm -Premote <job> aus der Queue loesche. Der Druckjob erscheint nur in der Remote-Queue, das Spoolen vom Prefilter auf Remote funktioniert wohl. yep, allerdings nicht im Zusammenhang mit Apple Es gibt noch ein interessantes Projekt: CUPS (http://www.cups.org), welches die Druckeransteuerung unter *nix generalisieren will. I have some problems getting Wordperfect to work: I installed the wp rpm using yast. I then followed the instructions in the readme file to install word perfect from the expanded files. (All of the above as root.) As user 'aguelzow' I start /opt/wp/wpbin/xwp. Wordperfect starts fine but gives me a bunch of error messages that ~/.wprc/wp8x.set is already opened by another user. In fact when I try to open any file I get the corresponding message. Does anybody have an idea what might be up. (Everything seems to be okay if I run it as root, but...). Any help is appreciated. Hmm, it's been ages since i used WP, but IIRC i had to do most of the
install as a 'normal' user, 'cause it's only
a single-user version.
I did it with the download-version, i dunno how to proceed
with an rpm-install.
Anyway, there is one user, that can use WP, and 'cause you
did it as root WP only wants to be used as root :-(
Funny thing, parts of the setup for e.g. printers still have
to be done as root...
Your probs are not new; but so far i only heard about
tarfile-installs. Sure SuSE didn't put a hint in the Support-Database ?

Nothing there, but I solved the problem: the home directory (or at least ~/.wprc) cannot be nfs mounted, well at least not via autofs. Have you deleted or cleaned /tmp/wp-... ?? If so, error messages you mentioned will appear.
