Mein Rechner: Athlon 1000 Via Mainboard, zusätzlich IDE-Raid Controller Toshiba DVD Laufwerk Kernel neu kompiliert (DMA für cdrom enabled) Mein DVD Laufwerk bringt ständig Fehler , unter 7.3 lief es einwandfrei. Ja, mit neuem 2.4.19p7-Kernel. Mit dem von der SuSE-8.0 klappte es nie, mit allen früheren Versionen hingegen ohne Maulen. Xine läuft jetzt butterweich...

Einen VIA Chipsatz hat mein Board auch. Das scheint Voraussetzung für die Fehler zu sein.
Kernel neu kompiliert (DMA für cdrom enabled) Mein DVD Laufwerk bringt ständig Fehler , unter 7.3 lief es einwandfrei.
Bekommst Du etwa solche Fehlermeldungen in /var/log/messages? Eine Bitte: Schick Deine Fehlermeldungen auch an SuSE, da scheint mir ein massiver VIA-Bug im Kernel zu sein. SuSE sollte etwas Druck bekommen, um endlich mal ein Patch für die Leute zur Verfügung zu stellen, die nicht mal eben 100MB Kernel aus dem Netz saugen, patchen und kompilieren können. -- Jörg@wörk Bitte keine Blumen, ich habe keine Vasen.

genau diese Fehler bekomme ich auch!

Habe gestern Abend die Quellen von 2.4.19p10-Kernel runter geladen und kokmpiliert .... Reboot mit neuem Kernel: DVD mit Xine klappt immer noch nicht. Ich glaube irgend etwas ist faul. Mplayer 'funktioniert' das heißt der Ton hat ständig sehr kurze Unterbrechungen und bei manchen DVDs klappt die Untertitel Einstellung nicht richtig (-slang de). Gruß Bernd

Frage eins, wo hast Du xine her, bzw. wie wurde es compiliert. Wie startest Du xine, wenn nicht die XVideo-Extension genutzt wird (xine -V Xv), steigt die CPU-Belastung ganz enorm.

Welche libdvcss- und libdvdread-Version haben wir denn installiert, ich konnte leider ausser der libdvdcss 0.0.3-ogle3 bisher keine brauchbare finden.
