Hallo Listenteilnehmer, aufgrund verschiedener Verweise in dieser Liste möchte ich das Drucken auf CUPS umstellen. Die Installation/Änderung (lprold --> CUPS) von der SuSE 7.2 CD verlief problemlos. Der lokale Druck klappt ebenfalls bestens. Leider schaffe ich es nicht vom W2k PC zu drucken. Linux-seitig ist Samba installiert und in der smb.conf printing = cups eingestellt; die section [printers] der smb.conf habe ich unverändert gelassen. Nach einigen Versuchen und Änderungen in der /etc/cups/cupsd.conf konnte ich den Drucker windows-seitig über http://cups-server:631/printers/name problemlos installieren (d.h. es wurde erkannt, das auf dem Server kein Treiber existiert und die lokale Installation ermöglicht). Der Druck der Testseite bzw. jede beliebige andere Druckausgabe führt zu keiner Reaktion auf dem Linux PC. Es gibt keine Fehlermeldung in /var/log/cups/error_log bzw. keine Einträge zu dem Druckversuche in /var/log/cups/access_log. Kann mir bitte jemand einen/den entscheidenden Hinweis geben? Ich denke, es liegt an den Einstellungen der cupsd.conf, kann aber im CUPS Software Administrators Manual den knackpunkt nicht finden. Mit den Default settings klappt es offensichtlich nicht. Ich hatte, wenn ich dich richtig verstehe die gleichen Probleme. Versuch's mal mit dieser Zeilen: printing = cups print command = lp -d%p -oraw /var/spool/public/%s ; rm -f %s lpq command = /usr/bin/lpq -P%p %s lprm command = /usr/bin/lprm -P%p %s printcap name = /etc/printcap Die Drucker auf w2k richtest du folgendermassen ein: (Das die Treiber vom Sambaserver bereitgestellt werden, habe ich auch nicht hingekriegt) Neuer Drucker -> Lokaler Drucker (Erkennung ausschalten) -> LPT1 -> Drucker wählen. Nachher: rechte Maustaste auf dieses Druckersymbol -> Eigenschaften -> Regitrierkarte Anschlüsse -> Hinzufügen -> Local Port -> Neuer Anschluss -> Hier gibst du das in dieser Form an: \\server\drucker_auf_dem_samba Es gibt sicherlich elegantere Lösungen, funktioniert aber ganz gut. Hoffe ein wenig geholfen zu haben. Gruss Fabian

Es gibt sicherlich elegantere Lösungen, funktioniert aber ganz gut.
Warum kann ich nun drucken und warum finde ich keine entsprechenden Hinweise im INet? Die FAQ0019 der cups.org verweist auf eine alte oder zwei, möglicherweise broken samba Versionen; bei mir ist jedoch Samba 2.20a installiert. Herzlichen Dank und schöne Grüße aus Wien, Heinz

Tja, ich hatte mich damals auch genervt, alle Tipps verwiesen immer auf die man oder sonstige Readme's. Aber diese halfen alle nicht. Auch ich hatte im Internet zuerst nichts gefunden. Mit ein paar Tipps aus dieser List und nochmaligen Suchen, fand ich dann die netscheidenden Hinweise. *freu* auch mal jemandem geholfen zu haben. Gruss aus der Schweiz Fabian
