Moin, habe gerade versucht, auf meinem Rechner (XP 1800, Suse 8.2, Kernel 2.4.21) die Eval-Version 4.0.1 der VMware zu konfigurieren: Ein paar übliche warnings, aber dann: Do you want this program to automatically configure your system to allow your virtual machines to access the host's filesystem? (yes/no/help) [no] insserv: script globdate: service microcode already provided! VMware Workstation is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured for the running kernel. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command: /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. The configuration of VMware Workstation 4.0.1 build-5289 for Linux for this running kernel completed successfully. You can now run VMware Workstation by invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware". Enjoy, --the VMware team Der Aufruf für vmware bringt immer nur das gleiche Ergebnis, nämlich, dass ich mal konfigurieren soll... Und nun? Bernhard

[...] Ich kann Dir nur sagen, das ich es hier auf einem 2.4.21er Kernel auch nicht zum laufen gebracht habe. Bei mir hat das Teil zwar noch die Module erstellt, aber _jede_ VM hat danach einen Kernel-Oops hervorgerufen und musste gekillt werden. Nach downgrade auf 2.4.20 lief es (sowohl mit 4.0.0 als auch mit 4.0.1) Andresa
