Hi Liste, Ich habe immer das Gefühl, seit ich mit einem Kernel aus der 2.4er arbeite, häufen sich ein paar Vorkommnisse, die ich vom 2.2er her nicht kenne. Mir passieren so Sachen wie: Ganze Kiste rührt sich plötzlich nicht mehr. Das merkt man daran, daß X einfriert und sich die Tastatur verabschiedet. Plattendiode leuchtet fröhlich konstant vor sich hin und der Mauszeiger tut noch. (Das ist passiert, als ich mit OOo experimentiert habe, das ist quasi im Minutentakt während des automatischen Abspeicherns abgestürzt; auch Konqui stürzt gerne beim Arbeiten auf Dateien ab, Rechte ändern oder auch ausschneiden/einfügen). Reset und die Kiste hat nicht einmal gemerkt, daß sie gerade völlig weg war (auch das ext3-Dateisystem merkt, wenn es nicht richtig umountet wird). Nach meinen /var/log/messages ist das alles gar nicht passiert. Das andere Vorkommnis ist, Linux ganz normal herunterfahren, Kiste wird ausgeschaltet. Beim nächsten Hochfahren fährt Linux im SingleUser-Mode hoch und ich darf erst mal einen manuellen Reparaturlauf durchführen. *urghs* Und dann funktioniert das Ausschalten des Computers nicht immer. Anstatt alles auszuschalten, führt die Kiste einen reboot durch. Soll ich jetzt komplett nur meine Hardware im Verdacht haben und ist der Kernel nicht ganz koscher? Was habe ich für Logging-Möglichkeiten oder wo könnte ich noch suchen, ob etwas geloggt ist? Kann ich mir einen Kernel bauen, der den Fehlerquellen noch besser auf den Grund gehen kann als der von SuSE Marke Standard für alles? Im Gebrauch habe ich Kernel 2.4.18-4GB auf einem Celeron (633 MHz), 256 MB RAM, eine IDE-Platte (40 GB, WD); wenn eine zweite Platte drin ist, scheint mir noch mehr Unruhe zu sein. IDE-Kabel habe ich auch schon ausgetauscht, vielleicht stecke ich noch ein ganz neues auf. Übers Board kann ich nichts sagen, ich habe den Rechner ohne Doku gekauft (mal gucken, könnte hwinfo laufen lassen). GraKa ist nVidia ohne 3D Unterstützung (nur das konfiguriert, was SuSE liefert, aber ich denke, meine Plattenzugriffsprobleme haben nichts damit zu tun). Ähnliches habe ich auf meinem Router auch beobachtet. Nach dem Backen des Kernels, waren diese Phänomene verschwunden. Also ich weis nicht so recht ich habe hier 2 Workstations 1: = Athlon 1Ghz 320 MB Ram 32 MB Nvidia 250 MB Zip (IDE) 40 GB HD (IDE) 1* DVD (IDE) 1* CDRW (IDE) 1 SCSI Karte (Schlag mich tot ich weis nicht welcher Chipset) + nen Mustek Scanexpress12000 Dieses System Läuft tadellos (bis auf die Maus wo immer verdreckt lol) 2: = Athlon 1,333Ghz 512 MB Ram 64 MB SIS 314 100 MB Zip (IDE) 40 GB HD (IDE) 1* DVD (IDE) 10 GB HD(IDE) Dieses system ist unter Linux zum *******(von der red zensiert) lol under $win tut es einigermasen dazu muss ich sagen dass ich beide rechner selber zusammengebruzzelt habe (Sorgfältige Hardwareauwahl ist selbstverständlich) bei dem 2ten da friert auch ab un zu mal der X-Server ein die Tastatur ist da dann auch weg und es hilft mir da dann nur noch ein netzwerkzugriff (daten sichern und reboot). Ich habe da allerdings genau das selbige problem dass ich im Logbuch nix finde, keinerlei anhaltspunkt wo ich auch nur im entferntesten etwas zum nachvollziehen hätte (auf diesem System lief noch kein 2.2er kernel da kann ich nix zu sagen) auf jeden fall ist es so dass dieser rechner trotz angeblicher Hardwarevorteile wesentlich schlechter abschneidet als der "kleinere" Rechner1 ich will damit sagen Helga ich leide mit dir lol, es scheint schon so zu sein dass es auch auf die vorhandene Hardware ankommt, das verhalten hatte ich hier mit der Nvidia karte unter Suselinux 7.2 auch (damals hatte ich mir mein netzwerk noch nicht aufgebaut um remote zugreifen zu können) und da war in den Logbüchern nix zu finden (war ne 7.2 er Standart installation, Keine veränderungen an dem System (Kernel und so) selber) MFG Thilo -- http://www.chef-de-cuisine.de http://www.gasthof-linde.de

I.d.R. wohl ein DMX 436 (sitzt auf diversen Billig ISA-SCSI-Karten von DMX (Domex) / DTC 318x(L)E... Falls es ne PCI-Karte ist, ist's wohl ein DMX/DTC 3191x, der auch laeuft (hat hier jemand (H.W. Pahlke?) neulich zum laufen gebracht). Ich würde mir auch einen Kernel Backen. Naja vielleicht erstmal noch mit den IRQ setups des Bios spielen. Aber ich habe bei meinem Rechner CPU-Typ, mainboard-chipsatz Spundkarte, Filesystem und Netzwerkkarten direkt in den Kernel eingebaut. Und sonst hab ich alle Dinge die ich definitv nicht brauch deaktiviert. Seitdem Läuft das ganze bei mir super. Vielleicht hilft auch ein umstecken der Soundkarte. Via chipsatz, Spundblaster und Nvidia sind nicht die grössten Freunde, wenn es um Zusammenarbeit geht. Gruß Matthias -- Matthias Nattrodt Olching http://www.olching-net.de

Nein, dachte, die 8er-SuSE hat das jetzt default-mäßig ohnehin ausgeknipst. Allmählich glaube ich den Spruch, Hardware ist böse, sie lebt. Helga *deren Rechner heute wieder ausgestiegen ist.
