Hilfe- Kernel startet nach Update nicht mehr
Hallo, habe gerade das Kernelupdate für die SuSE 7.3 eingespielt und sinnigerweise das mk_initrd vergessen. Seitdem bekomme ich beim Booten des Kernel (auch bei failsafe) die Meldung "no init found" Beim Booten von der vor ein paar Wochen erstellten Rescuedisc bleibt das System nach laden des Latin1-Zeichensatzes hängen und nichts geht mehr. Ein Versuch, das Rettungssystem zu booten, von dort aus / und /boot als /mnt und /mnt/boot zu mounten, dann chroot /mnt auszuführen und anschliessend mk_initrd und lilo auszuführen funktioniert zwar, aber nach beim nächsten Bootversuch bleibe ich wieder an der gleichen Stelle hängen. Was kann ich tun um das System wieder flott zu bekommen? Tschau Lutz

Hmm - wenn ich ein Update-Paket einspiele (also ein bestehendes Paket durch das aus dem update_7.3 Bereich ersetze, dann rufe ich nie mk_initrd auf sondern nur den lilo. *grübel* Mag sein, dass ich da bisher Glück gehabt habe ...
Ein Versuch, das Rettungssystem zu booten, von dort aus / und /boot als /mnt und /mnt/boot zu mounten, dann chroot /mnt auszuführen und anschliessend mk_initrd und lilo auszuführen funktioniert zwar, aber nach beim nächsten Bootversuch bleibe ich wieder an der gleichen Stelle hängen.
Hmmm - Du kannst ein installiertes System starten! Dann ist alles wie immer, nur eben der Kernel stammt von einer CD! Wenn Du das machst, dann hast Du volle Kontrolle über Dein system und DU kannst Updates einspielen und mk_initrd und lilo aufrufen, so oft Du willst. So sollte man es doch eigentlich wieder hin kriegen können, oder? Zur Not das alte Paket wieder drüberbügeln! Wenn du tatsächlich von Kernel-Update-Paketen sprichst (davon gehe ich aus), dann hast du tatsächlich Glück gehabt: Die initrd wird schließlich gebraucht, um benötigte Kernel-Module zu laden, ohne die das Root-Dateisystem nicht gemounted werden kann (z.B. reiserfs). Wenn du mk_initrd nach der Instalation eines neuen Kernels nicht aufrufst gehst du das Risiko ein, dass die Module aus der (alten) initrd nicht mit dem neuen Kernel zusammenpassen. Die Chance, dass du dein Root-Dateisystem nicht mehr mounten kannst ist relativ hoch. Die Meldung "no init found" deuted aber auf ein anderes Problem hin: Das angegebene Root-dateisystem wurde gemounted, aber /sbin/init konnte nicht gefunden werden (den Effekt kann man leicht hinkriegen, wenn man eine falsche Root-Partition in der lilo.conf angibt - sie muss allerdings existieren und vom Linux-Kernel mountbar sein, sonst kriegt man eine andere Fehlermeldung). Hallo Lutz, wahrscheinlich ist das nicht korrekt was ich vermute. Aber ich hatte genau das gleiche unter 7.2 vergessen. Ich weiß nicht was genau bei mk_initrd ab- läuft und wenn da irgendwelche Pfade drin stehen sollten so würden diese nicht mehr passen. Ich habe es so gelöst: Booten von SuSE-CD. Ich weiß zwar nicht mehr welchen Menü-Eintrag ich zum booten des Systems ausgewählt hatte aber irgendeiner mountet auch das System. Anschließend mk_initrd aufgerufen und lilo und dann liefs. Hallo Michael,
Booten von SuSE-CD. Ich weiß zwar nicht mehr welchen Menü-Eintrag ich zum booten des Systems ausgewählt hatte aber irgendeiner mountet auch das System. Anschließend mk_initrd aufgerufen und lilo und dann liefs. Genau das funktioniert bei mir leider nicht. Alles sieht so aus als ob es funktioniert und die initrd in /boot wird auch aktualisiert, aber beim nächsten Boot von Festplatte heisst es wieder "no init found...."

Du kannst von CD aus das System booten und mit Yast den alten Kernel wieder installieren. Dann sollte es wieder laufen. Bei mir geht das jedenfalls. cu Hannes

Dumme Frage meinerseits, aber in welchem Paket befindet sich der Kernel??? Habe minimales System gewählt und die Pakete durchgesehen, die nicht akt. werden sollen, finde aber einfach nicht das Paket mit dem Kernel. Ist einfach nicht mein Tag :-(((

Ich weiß gar nicht, ob der Kernel überhaupt in einem Paket steckt. Ich installiere ihn im Yast über administration -> bootkernel auswählen usw... Habe ich letztlich auch so gemacht, da ich innerhalb des normalen Updates keine Möglichkeit gefunden habe.
