Hallo,
kennt jemand eine plausible Erklaerung warum in der Manpage zu faxmail folgendes zu lesen ist:
FILES ~/.hylarc per-user configuration file /usr/lib/fax/pagesizes page size database /usr/lib/fax/faxmail.ps POSTSCRIPT prologue /usr/lib/fax/hyla.conf system-wide configuration file /usr/lib/fax/faxmail.conf system-wide configuration file /usr/lib/fax/sendfax.conf system-wide configuration file for direct delivery /usr/lib/fax/faxmail hierarchy for external MIME converters /usr/share/ghostscript/9.15/Resource/Init:/usr/share/ghostscript/9.15/lib:/usr/share/ghostscript/9.15/Resource/Font:/usr/share/ghostscript/fonts:/usr/share/fonts/truetype:/usr/share/fonts/Type1:/usr/share/fonts/CID:/usr/share/fonts/URWfor font metrics
Diese Liste von Font-Verzeichnissen scheint in keinem Config-File zu stehen und kann auch per Fontpath im setup.cache nicht veraendert werden. Da es weder /usr/share/fonts/URW noch /usr/share/fonts/CID gibt bekommt man beim Aufruf von faxmail gerne mal folgende Meldungen, die dann zur Nicht-Funktion fuehren:
Font metrics file not found: .afmFont Courier: /usr/share/fonts/URW/.afm: Can not open font metrics file; using fixed widths. Font metrics file not found: .afmFont Helvetica-Bold: /usr/share/fonts/URW/.afm: Can not open font metrics file; using fixed widths. faxmail: unable to process message: /tmp//sndfaxzVbFnz: Can not open: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden.
Woher kommen diese kaputten Font-Pfade?

keine Ahnung, benutze das nicht. Aber ich würde versuchen, es mit einem symbolischen Link auf existierende Verzeichnisse loszuwerden...

So einfach geht das leider nicht, denn ich habe keinen Font gefunden in dessen Pfad sich eine ".afm" (gesamter Dateiname) befinden wuerde. In den Sourcen habe ich mittlerweile festgestellt dass dieser Pfad fest eincompiliert ist. Das ist ziemlicher Schrott...

und ein Softlink von einer existierenden [....].afm auf .afm ?
Bei mir gibt es übrigens /usr/share/fonts/URW als Link auf /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts... allerdings keine .afm
Eigentlich denke ich aber, dass der Fehler daher rührt, das irgendwer vorher keinen Fontnamen mitgibt, hylafax aber einen erwartet, wenn es den Namen in den fonts.dir/fonts.scale der Schriftverzeichnisse nicht findet, einfach .afm anhängt und so dann nach ".afm" sucht. Evt. ist faxmail.ps mal einen Blick wert?
