Hi, ich habe schon ein paar mal E-Mails bekommen die als anlage eine datei namens: winmail.dat hatten. Weiss jemand was das soll und wodurch das zu stande kommt??? Ever wonder where WINMAIL.DAT attachments come from? It's a Microsoft Exchange "feature". Since Exchange supports rich-text email (bold, italic, multiple fonts, etc.), and Internet email doesn't, any email sent from Exchange to a non-Exchange mail reader will contain an Attachment called WINMAIL.DAT. If you use Exchange, you won't see this file, and the message will retain its formatting. However, it can be confusing for those who don't use Exchange (You, I, and the majority of the Internet population), and have no use for this file. -- Jochen

Meines Wissens ist das ein proprietäres Format für eMail-Attachments, das von Microsoft-Mail-Systemen (Outlook? Oder nur in Verbindung mit Exchange-Server?) verwendet wird... :-|

Schau Dir mal: http://tud.at/php/tnef/ http://www.fentun.com/ an... Und sag' dem Absender, dass er mit seinem "winmail.dat" nichts Gutes tut. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass auch Windows-User, die kein Outlook verwenden, Probleme mit dieser Art von Attachments haben. Gruß, Steffen

jepp... das ist Micro$ofts TNEF-Format. M$ ist (witzigerweise) der Meinung, dass man es nur im LAN benutzen soll. Liegt wohl an den vielen Sicherheitsluecken ;-) Leider konfigurieren wohl viele Admins Ihre Exchange-Server falsch, so dass diese Dinger auch ins Inet verschickt werden. Es gibt ein Utility, mit dem man solche Attachment auspacken kann... http://world.std.com/~damned/software.html
