-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 - -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 hi, i have some questions on SuSE. 1) when working on the command line (no x started) the system freezes - there's no time limit or something else, but everytime it has frozen i was in an editing tool (vi or joe). 2) the kde/sound question. when starting kde and / or sound apps on the xconsole there come two messages up, that the modules 'sound-slot-1' and 'sound-service-1-0' can not be loaded. i have made make modules after compiling the kernel. too, there are no such files. i have a sblive using alsa. by the way: how to play mp3 files? 3) the avm b1 question. the drivers load but after start of isdnlog the error msg '/dev/isdnctrl: No such device' comes up. but a /dev/isdnctrl exists, but is white in ls view - that means it is a link (well, at least i think that's it). lsmod lists: - - - b1pci - - - b1dma - - - b1 - - - capi - - - capifs - - - kernelcapi - - - capiutil that are those modules that should be loaded as mentioned in the readme from avm. this is all on a dual pIII500 with 512 ram. thanks for your help, sascha - -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 7.0 iQA/AwUBOomAhWYZ6Od193QxEQLBLgCggPiM0mJYHPUd+5+5uSiWpl+7x8sAoK94 zZVObI9rs7JoduyVnbvHejwd =dh9L - -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 7.0 iQA/AwUBOomA92YZ6Od193QxEQKRpQCgiMX5NwrOEkLSjj1PZ8faH3r8DEUAoNz2 Is+OIIm1oe5SM6xKspcG+c2D =Bqm2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Please NO PGP on mailinglists. thanx.
i have some questions on SuSE.
some i can answer, some not....
1) when working on the command line (no x started) the system freezes - there's no time limit or something else, but everytime it has frozen i was in an editing tool (vi or joe).
Can you switch to another console with ctrl+alt+F2 oder F3 or so? What did you edit with vi?
2) the kde/sound question. when starting kde and / or sound apps on the xconsole there come two messages up, that the modules 'sound-slot-1' and 'sound-service-1-0' can not be loaded. i have made make modules after compiling the kernel. too, there are no such files. i have a sblive using alsa. by the way: how to play mp3 files?
Thats not so bad. Ignore it, or do the following: Start your KDE Controllcenter and choose in Sound -> Mixer There you can choose the number of probed devices per mixer. The default number is 2. Choose 1 and the "errror" message is away. how to play mp3 files? Just start a mp3 player like xmms or kmp3 and press play :)
3) the avm b1 question. the drivers load but after start of isdnlog the error msg '/dev/isdnctrl: No such device' comes up. but a /dev/isdnctrl exists, but is white in ls view - that means it is a link (well, at least i think that's it).
Sounds like you dont start the i4l system when you boot or this is an irq conflict. Have you checkt the box in YaST1 or 2 for startin i4l during boot? Please give us the output of the command rci4l restart
