Nicht einmal Hinweise auf das, was schiefgelaufen sein knnte, sind irgendwo zu finden.
- Zur Not sogar source-code - Die moeglichkeit hat man auch.
Sofern man programmieren kann. Ich habe an anderer Stelle schon gesagt, dass ich das _nicht_ kann. Daher lasse ich vom source code lieber die Finger.
Daher wollen wir mal sehen, ob wir das Problem nicht doch noch geloest kriegen: - Welchen Kernel nutzt Du?
Derzeit 2.0.36 (SuSe 6.0); war aber beim 2.0.35 genau das gleiche.
- Welchen pppd nutzt Du?

- Wie sieht deine Konfiguration aus?
Falls Du das meinst: Standalone-Maschine, keinerlei Netz. Loopback fr den Drucker, TCP/IP, PPP, SLIP im Kernel.
- Nutzt Du evtl. noch andere Software (kppp oder so!)?
Derzeit nicht.
- Was fuer einen Provider nutzt Du?
Im aktuellen Fall wollte/mchte ich T-Online benutzen. Das ist nicht der Punkt: der _pppd_ stirbt. Und ich habe nicht die geringste Ahnung, warum.
- ISPN oder Modem?
ELSA Microlink ISDN/TL V.34 Das ist ein Modem _und_ externer ISDN-Adapter. Nochmal: Die mit YAST (wie gestern unter kppp Problem beschrieben) erstellten Skripte stellen sehr wohl eine Verbindung her, wie ich mit tail -f /var/log/messages sehen kann; dann verreckt der ver.... ppd!!!!
brigens funktioniert die Konfiguration mit YAST keinesweg 'out of the box'. Das ist nur einer der Punkte, die mich davon abhlt, den grssten Teil meiner Arbeit auf meine Linux-Kiste zu verlegen.
Wenn SuSE das Werkzeug schon zur Verfgung stellt, dann sollte es korrekt funktionieren.
- Wer linux nutzen will, soll daher: - Die gottverdammte scheiss Dokumentation lesen.
Ein grosser Teil der Dokumentation ist in der Tat so bescheiden, dass sie kaum zu gebrauchen ist - vor allem nicht fr Ein- und Umsteiger, die nicht den Nachteil haben, an einer TU zu hocken.

Hast Du irgendwann 'mal versucht, die Dinger unvoreingenommen, d.h. ohne die rosa Brille des technisch vorgebildeten zu lesen?

Falsch. Jedermann hat gegenber jedem hflich aufzutreten.
Eine Antwort, wo er den Hilfe findet, bringt duchaus viel mehr. Ein einfaches RTFM ist etwas zu wenig - aber wenn ich dir schreibe: more /usr/src/linux/documentation/Changes oder sowas, weil du versuchst, einen 2.1.x Kernel mit dem pppd von SuSE 5.0 zu nutzen, dann ist das mehr als genug.

Wenn ich ihm vorkaue, wie er Problem a loest, dann kommt er morgen mit Problem b ... dann mit problem c ... u.s.w.
Dann ist es meine verdammte Pflicht als "Lehrer" darauf hinzuweisen, dass sich auch (mglicherweise vllig anders geartete) Probleme mit hnlichen Methoden lsen lassen. Bedenke: die meisten Menschen sind des selbstndigen Denkens entwhnt. Ich habe mich mit dieser Frage nach mehr als einem halben Jahr erfolgloser Versuche an diese Liste gewandt!
Daher kann ich Dir nur sagen: Werde aktiv - hilf bei KDE oder anderen Projekten, die in diese Richtung gehen! Jeder wird gebraucht - und wenn er nur einfache Uebersetzungen durchfuehrt oder Software testet.
bersetzungen sind alles andere als einfach. Glaub' mir, ich mache das das seit einem dutzend Jahren und mehr beruflich - und lebe nicht schlecht davon. Ich werde kde.org wohl meine Mitarbeit in dieser Hinsicht anbieten - fr das gleiche Honorar, das Linus fr seine Arbeit an Linux bekommt, versteht sich.
