Hallo, ich mache gerade Gehversuche mit VirtualBox eingebunden mit Yast wurde in suse 11.1 x86_64 VirtualBox-2.1.0_41146_openSUSE111-1.x86_64.rpm danach das passende Kernelmodul virtualbox-ose-kmp-default - Kernel Module for VirtualBox Den Einrichtungsdialog für die SUN Virtualbox kann ich aufrufen und auch ein Gastsystem vorbereiten, installiert ist noch keins. In boot.msg ist die folgende Nachricht. Starting VirtualBox kernel module failed (modprobe vboxnetflt failed. Falls nicht, dann per Yast die Gruppe zum User hinzufügen: Yast2 -> Sicherheit und Benutzer -> Benutzer- und Gruppenmanagement Dann den X-Server mittels STRG+ALT+DEL (evtl. 2x drücken) neustarten. (ACHTUNG: Laufende Programme werden beendet!) Was hindert Dich denn daran, einen virtuellen Gast zu installieren? Es ist müßig zu fragen, ob bei Deiner Instrallation etwas nicht stimmen könnte, wenn Du keinen gast einrichtest. Zur Fehlermeldung: Hätte die Installation des Kernelmoduls nicht geklappt, würde Virtualbox gar nicht erst starten oder Dir beim Start einen Hinweis geben. Was bei Dir nicht stimmen könnte ist Spekualtion, solange Virtualbox startet. Gruß Thomas

Was hindert Dich denn daran, einen virtuellen Gast zu installieren?
Zur Fehlermeldung: Hätte die Installation des Kernelmoduls nicht geklappt, würde Virtualbox gar nicht erst starten oder Dir beim Start einen Hinweis geben.
Was bei Dir nicht stimmen könnte ist Spekualtion, solange Virtualbox startet.
Du hast natürlich recht, eine Probe-Installation ist der beste Test. Ich probiere es einmal mit Suse 11.0_32. Wenn es nicht klappt melde ich mich wieder. Danke für die Antworten. Hallo, du sollst auch nicht nachschauen was dmesg macht sondern einfach dmesg aufrufen. Das gibt dir (wie in der Manpage schon beschrieben) den Inhalt des Kernel-Ring-Buffers aus. und da steht dann evtl. auch drin was schief läuft. In der Hoffung geholfen zu haben gruß Daniel

Ich hatte das Problem auch mal allerdings noch bei der 11.0 Ich hatte das script /etc/init.d/vboxdrv editiert um zu sehen was er eigentlich macht und fest gestellt, dass das zu ladende Modul zwar vorhanden ist aber durch Kernelupdate einen anderen Pfad benutzt. Ich habe damals (oder auch vor ein paar Wochen) den Pfad in dem script korrigiert und dann lief es. Wenn Du das Paket von der Virtualseite heruntergeladen und Installiert hast darfst du diese Module nicht Laden. Denn diese sind nur für die OSE Pakete, in denen funktioniert auch die USB Weiterleitung nicht.
Den Einrichtungsdialog für die SUN Virtualbox kann ich aufrufen und auch ein Gastsystem vorbereiten, installiert ist noch keins.
In boot.msg ist die folgende Nachricht.

Danke für den Hinweis. ich werde die Sache erst einmal rückgängig machen und noch eine klein Weile warten. Einigen andere Problemchen muss ich auch noch nachgehen. Andererseits: Alles was ich normalerweise auf meinem Computer wirklich brauche, läuft unter KDE 4.1 tadelfrei, und zusätzlich funktionieren K3B, Amarok und Kaffeine ohne Probleme.
