Leafnode holt keine News
Hallo Leute, habe mir heute genau nach Anleitung aus dem O'Reilly "Wegweiser fuer Onliner" Leafnode eingerichtet. Nun wollte ich mir mit fetch -vv meine News abholen, aber ich bekomme nur folgende Meldung: fetch -vv Removing stale lockfile. 1.9.14: verbosity level is 2 Trying to connect to mein.newsserver.de ... connected. Disconnect from mein.newsserver.de. Nur bis zum "connected" tut sich was bei meinen Modem LED's, danach bleibt alles dunkel. Newsserver, Login-Name und Password hab' ich schon fuenfmal ueberprueft und immer noch keinen Schreibfehler gefunden. Die Datei Groupinfo wird zwar angelegt, aber sie hat die Groesse 0. Hab' schon das Timeout in der "/etc/leafnode/config" auf 60 gesetzt, aber geholfen hat's nicht :-( Wo kann ich weitere Info's finden, wo das Problem eventuell liegen koennte. Ach ja, ich arbeite unter SuSE 7.0 auf einem P133 mit 80MB RAM. Ich hoffe, das sind genuegend Informationen fuer euch. Wenn nicht, dann fragt mich bitte nochmal nach den fehlenden Sachen. Um wirklich Gruppen auszuwählen, musst du jetzt erstmal mit deinem Newsreader ran, eine Gruppe anbestellen und die darinliegende Nachricht lesen. Erst jetzt wird leafnode die Gruppe bestellen. Ich wäre erstmal mit -v etwas vorsichtig, da kann u.U. sehr viel auf dich zukommen. :-) Gruß, Ratti

2. Für mich sieht das so aus, als würde dein leafnode funktionieren - du hättest aber keine Gruppen bestellt. Die werden beim ersten Mal herunter geladen (kann in den config definiert werden) Probier mal 'fetchnews -f', um eine Gruppenliste zu bestellen. Tut natuerlich auch. Der Download der Gruppenliste kann schon mal dauern. Dann im Newsreader Gruppe(n) wählen. fetchnews starten. Mit dem Newsreader die neuen Artikel vom localhost holen (offline) Du erhälst ein leeres Dokument pro Gruppe, das "lesen" und dann noch mal fetchnews -vvv starten. Jetze sollten die neuen Artikel gelesen werden. Ich habe keine Ahnung warum das leere Dokument erstellt wird und warum man es oeffen muss um den Rest zu bekommen - es stand in irgend einer Doku - vielleicht weis ja einer der Profis mehr.

Wie gesagt, ich hab' mir einen Link angelegt, damit ich nicht soviel tippen muss ;-) Daran liegt's aber nicht. Ach ja, egal, ob ich fetchnus -v, -vv, -vvv oder -vvvv eingebe, es kommt immer die gleiche Meldung (siehe meine urspruengliche mail).

Ich hab' alles probiert, als user news (wobei ich als Anwender komischweise immer ein PW eingeben muss...), als normaler User und sogar als Root (ja ich weiss, wie leichtsinnig das ist). Immer das gleiche Spiel :-( ...

Mir scheint's, dass fetchnews keinerlei Gruppen holt. Warum weiss ich aber leider nicht.

Der User news soll kein Paßwort haben. Im zweiten Feld der zughörigen /etc/shadowzeile sollte ein * oder sowas stehen. Als normaler User kann man dann kein news werden, und das ist auch richtig so, daß kann nur root. Um news zu werden, mußt Du zuerst root werden und dann ein su news machen. Dann wird auch nicht nach einem Paßwort gefragt. Da ist nichts komisches dran, denn su macht eine Paßwortabfrage und wertet das Paßwort normal aus. Es gibt aber kein Paßwort, daß verschlüsselt * ergibt, ganz einfach weil alle verschlüsselte Paßwörter aus 13 Zeichen bestehen. Also scheitert jedes Paßwort. Anders wenn Du root bist, dann wird keine Paßwortabfrage gemacht, sondern gleich die Identität gewechselt, denn root darf das ja. Aber wie gesagt, daß hat nichts mit Deinem Problem zu tun, sondern ist nur ein Sicherheitsaspekt. Man sollte keine unnötigen Paßwörter einbauen. Heisst bei mir inzwischen auch so, aber ich hab' mir ein Link angelegt, welches beim Aufruf von fetch automatisch fetchnews ausfuehrt. Hab' es auch direkt mit "fetchnews" ausprobiert, gleiches Ergebnis.

Hmmm, das ist komisch. Probiere das gerade aus und es passiert gar nix... Modem ruehrt sich nicht und auch in der Shell tut sich nix.
Ich wäre erstmal mit -v etwas vorsichtig, da kann u.U. sehr viel auf dich zukommen. :-)

??? Ist denn die Installation als solche in Ordung? Wie hast du installiert? Ansonsten: Kontrolliere die Rechte in /var/spool/news, insbesondere /var/spool/news/leaf.node. Verzeichnisse brauchen mind. drwxr-x--- (750) news.news (ich hab hier drwxr-xr-x 755)), Dateien mind. -rw-r----- (640) bzw. -rw-r--r-- (644). -dnh -- "Ein WoKo ist eine Einheit.
