Ich hab das seit dem Upgrade auf die neueste lpd-Version von SuSE. Kommt mir bekannt vor. Ich rate einfach mal: Du versuchst, auf einem Netzwerkdrucker zu drucken, gell? Mit genau den gleichen Fehlermeldungen habe ich auch zu gekämpft, als ich vorgestern auf meinem 486er Client den Zugang zu dem HP LaserJet 6 an meinem Server einrichten wollte. Ich habe es erst mit yast versucht ("Netzwerkdrucker verwalten", auf dem 486er), das hat ber nix gebracht. Erst händisches Editieren von /etc/printcap brachte Erfolg. Dies ist die /etc/printcap des Clients: lp|remote printer on 192.168.0.10:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :rm=192.168.0.10:\ :rp=lp:\ :lp=:\ :sh: Im Drucker-Howto steht das ganze mit Hostnames statt IP-Adressen drin, das hat aber bei mir trotz funktionierendem DNS nicht hingehauen. hth, Christian -- Made with a Macintosh... probier mal unsere "lprold" version sowohl auf dem client als auch auf dem server aus:
Den Fehler hatte ich auch gerade (Drucker an suse 5.3, Zugriff von suse 6.2 aus versucht), als ich nach einer Änderung der /etc/hosts.lpd per *kill -HUP* versucht habe, meinen lpd neu zu initialisieren. Auch ein /etc/rc.d/lpd stop | start hat da nicht mehr geholfen - nur noch ein init 6 :-( Als Tipp, wie ich es hier zum Laufen gekriegt habe: - in die /etc/hosts.lpd muss nach meiner Erfahrung der volle Hostname rein (also incl. Domain, wenn er so in der hosts drin steht), mit dem Rechnernamen allein klappt ein Remote-Zugriff nicht. Das steht leider weder im Handbuch noch in der Beispiel-host.lpd. - Der lpd will anscheinend nicht so richtig wieder neu starten, wenn auf dem Remote-Rechner noch Aufträge für remote in der Queue stehen - warum weiss ich nicht. Nach dem Löschen (wenn nicht anders möglich, dann remote rausschmeissen) konnte ich dann den lpd auf dem Server reanimieren.
