[ SuSE 6.0 ] I have 2 3C509B NICs, and I'm trying to intall one in a Linux machine, and t'other in a Win95 machine. I've downloaded the two Etherdisks (drivers, installer... etc) from the 3com website. Tried installing on the Win95 machine, but the 3com installer doesn't recognise the NIC. I haven't provided any diagnostics, as frankly, I'm totally lost here. And I'm hoping there's a network guru subscribed to the list willing to help me. Cheers, Darren -- this is my .sig, show me yours --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-help@suse.com

Good luck!

This is a bit off-topic, isn't it? If your NIC is PnP (but to which God?), maybe it helps to play around with IRQ settings in the BIOS setup for a year or ten and to try at least three different driver versions. <rant> I know that kind of crap way too well. The non-PnP version hasn't made me any trouble ever. The PnP thing works cleanly under Linux, but with Win9x it uses every opportunity to refuse to work. 95 is the worst, 98 not much better. But, hey, it's Windows! What do you expect? I don't know a simple answer to your question other than to go and get another NIC. </rant> -- Christian Ullrich Registrierter Linux-User #125183 "Sie können nach R'ed'mond fliegen -- aber Sie werden sterben" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-help@suse.com

wrong Group! but there is also a DOS-based SetUpTool. Does this one recognize your Card? If so, change the NIC from PnP-Mode to non-PnP-Mode. Set IRQ and I/O-Base manually an be happy;-) Till then Michael --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-help@suse.com
