Network Printing Problem
I have a problem printing to a network printer from my Linux workstation running SuSE 6.2. The printer is Epson Stylus 900N. I don't have any problems printing to that printer from a Win98 box. I also am able to telnet from the Linux box to the printer and http to it. I can ftp to the printer and do ">put file-name". However, when I try "lpr file-name" I get the following line in response: lpr: lp: unknown printer Here's my /etc/printcap file: lp=|epson:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :rm=minsk:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PRIFx:\ :mx#0:\ :rp=aux:\ :sh:\ :sf: Can anyone help? The printer type lp is not known. See below.
Here's my /etc/printcap file:
lp=|epson:\
IMHO a syntax occured at this line. Change it to: lp|epson:\ This should solve the problem.
:lp=/dev/null:\ :rm=minsk:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PRIFx:\ :mx#0:\ :rp=aux:\ :sh:\ :sf:
Hope that helps Jan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-help@suse.com
