Liegt das überhaupt an den Änderungen von MBR usw. oder ist das Zufall (hotplugging hängt sich bei mir gerne mal auf - aber sonst eher beim shutdown).
Beim booten eins installierten Systems wird doch mit Sicherheit der Default-Kernel verwendet. Nutzt Du den sonst auch, oder hast Du sonst einen selbst kompilierten? Was heisst denn Hotplugging hängt sich auf genau? Wenn nur der Hotplugservice nicht richtig gestartet wird, solltest Du mit dem System doch arbeiten können. (Außer der Kernel-Frage halte ich eine Beeinflussung von MBR und Hotplugging für kaum vorstellbar)
Mit den beiden Bootdisketten geht gar nix. Wegen der häufigen Neuinstallationen betreffen die möglicherweise einen Vorgänger. Jedenfalls müßte es doch auch von DVD gehen, da diese ja die Installationen als solche erkennnt.
Kannst Du nicht mit dem von DVD gestarten System oder über das Rettungssystem wieder Lilo in den MBR schreiben (nehme an, das war vorher auch) und alles wird gut?
