Onlineupdates versucht doch M$ auch die ganze Zeit dem Anwender schmackhaft zu machen. Nur weiss man bei Kleinweich nie, was da an Infos verschoben werden.
Das stimmt natürlich, jedoch hüte ich mich vor einem Automatismus, der sofort die neueste Version installiert. Was mir eher vorschwebt ist eine Möglichkeit rpms - natürlich mit Versionsnummern und Infos - übers Netz zu betrachten, ähnlich der "Ankündigungs-" ("announce") -listen! Nur daß sofort eine Auswahl und eine Auffrischung (Update) möglich ist. Ich sehe ein Problem in der Eintrittshürde für viele Benutzer eines PC. für die wäre das schnelle Entwickeln unter OpenSource weitaus attraktiver, wenn sie mehr und schneller davon profitieren würden. Bislang trauen sich viele nicht in die Installation einzugreifen und haben deshalb oft unsichere alte Versionen auf Lager. (Vielleicht mit ein Grund warum Linux noch einen sehr bescheidenen Teil am Desktop inne hat) Einen weiteren Vorteil verspreche ich mir auch wegen der Reduzierung des Zeitaufwandes. Jedesmal irgendwo nachzschauen ob es eine neue Version gibt, die dieses oder jenes Problem behebt ist mühsam. Derselbe Mechanismus kann ja dann bei Querverweisen auf Module auf die Abhängigkeiten bestehen und fehlen in Gang gesetzt werden. Damit erübrigen sich IMHO auch viele Nachfragen wieso denn dieses oder jenes nicht rennt.
