PNG ist auch in den meisten Fällen wesentlich größer als die selbe Grafik als GIF. falsch!
PNG (fast) immer kleiner als GIF. das was du festgestellt hast, ist dass wenn du eine echtfarben-grafik als gif abspeicherst, wird diese erst nach 256 farben umgewandelt (gif kann eben nur 256 farben - ausgenommen einige erweiterungen), png speichert diese in echtfarben. (d.h. deine aussage war: ein bild ist in echtfarben groesser als mit 256 farben - das ist aber irgendwie logisch) versuch mal die grafik zuerst auf 256 (oder eben die anzahl, die benoetigt werden) farben umzuwandeln, und dann in gif / png abzuspeichern. siehe da - png ist kleiner.
